Guwahati: Amid the flood situation in the Assam, Education Minister Ranoj Pegu on Thursday announced that the summer vacation of the schools will start from June 25 to July 25.

According to the minister, most schools are still closed in various areas owing to flooding, therefore they have chosen to postpone the start of the summer break, which typically begins from July 1st week.

The ongoing examinations will end on June 25 after which the schools will remain closed for the summer, Pegu added.

For the convenience of both the students and the professors, he further advised the private educational institutions to adhere to the same rule.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, atleast 12 more people, including four children, were killed due to the ongoing floods in the state.

Over 54 lakh people across 32 districts have so far been affected in the state as the flood situation worsened.
