GUWAHATI: Assam government acting on its commitment to equal development of all areas, has decided that the office of Divisional Commissioner, Barak Valley would start functioning from Silchar with immediate effect.
It may be noted that the government took the decision in the interest of public service and for administrative convenience to shift the divisional commissioner, Barak Valley to function from Silchar instead of Guwahati.
Meanwhile, reviewing the progress of steps taken for distribution of land patta to one lakh landless indigenous families within the month of January this year, chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal asked the revenue and disaster management department to expeditiously complete necessary formalities in this regard.
Sonowal also directed the department to take appropriate measures so that more than the targeted numbers could be covered under this initiative
