Guwahati, September 14: The Assam Government has roped in the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta (IIM-C) to boost the start-up environment in the State.
The Industries and Commerce department has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the IIM-C on Thursday in order to strengthen the start-up environment in the state. The MoU was signed in presence of Ravi Capoor, additional chief secretary to the Industries and Commerce department.
It may be mentioned that the State Government has recently launched the start-up policy. A start-up incubation centre at the ‘Assam Hub’ will soon be inaugurated, Capoor informed.
He also said that the Assam Industries and Commerce department will soon launch a ‘Start-up Yatra’. The campaign will be launched in all the colleges across Assam to create an entrepreneurial mindset among the students.
Capoor further stated that the Assam Government will extend a grant to Rs 50 lakh per start-up, which will include Rs 5 lakh for idea to proof of concept.
