Assam Govt to issue new SOP today; curfew timing likely to be reduced by another one hour

The previous revised Standard Operating Protocol (SOP) laid by the Assam Government will come to an end on June 15

Guwahati: The Assam Government will issue a new Standard operating procedure (SOP) on Tuesday. It is speculated that as per the new SOP curfew timing is likely to be reduced to another one hour (2 pm from present 1 pm) in some districts including Kamrup Metro.

The previous revised Standard Operating Protocol (SOP) laid by the Assam Government will come to an end on June 15.

Although, the COVID situation has improved to some extent with the positivity rate coming down below 3% in the past couple of days, however, the situation in certain districts namely Cachar, Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Nagaon, Sonitpur and Biswanath is still grim.

In the last 24 hours, new 3678 cases have been detected in the state, of which Cachar alone reported 281 cases, Tinsukia 268 cases, Dibrugarh 266 cases and Sonitpur 259 cases.

The positivity rate now stands at 2.52%.

A total of 43 COVID patients succumbed to the deadly virus.

Hence, adequate containment measures are likely to be imposed in the new SOP by the Assam government for both urban and rural areas for containment of COVID-19 across the State.
