The Assam government will use the ad contents shot with the Bollywood diva and global icon Priyanka Chopra for another year, this was informed by Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC) chairman, Jayanta Malla Baruah.
Addressing the newsmen here on August 16th, 2019, Baruah informed that the government has bought the media rights to use the contents keeping in view of the tourism sector in Assam. Last month, Assam Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had tweeted that agreement with Priyanka to promote tourism had expired.
Meanwhile, putting an end to all speculations of superstar Akshay Kumar being roped in to become the next Tourism Ambassador of the state for his noble deed of donating Rs 2 crore to aid Assam flood victims, Baruah said that the government has made no decision yet to sign up any B-town celebrity to promote the domestic tourism sector.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his Independence Day speech aimed at boosting domestic tourism and urged citizens to visit at least 15 local destinations by 2022. We too have plans to improve the tourism sector here,” said Baruah.
He further added that in a bid to sensitize the public, the ATDC will organize competitions under the banner of the Awesome Assam campaign. “There will be short film, photography, writing competitions and to encourage participation, the winners will also be accorded with prize money,” he added.
As per the guidelines, a short film should be of 1-3 minute video. The first three winners will get Rs 1 lakh, Rs 75,000, Rs 50,000 accordingly. People interested in photography should submit their snaps at the ATDC office in Paltan Bazaar, Guwahati within August 20th, 2019-September 20th, 2019. The top three winners will receive a cash prize of Rs 25,000, Rs 20,000 and Rs 15,000.
For the ones interested in writing, can submit their write-ups from August 20th, 2019-September 20th, 2019. Every article should consist of 200 words and the top three winners will receive Rs 10,000, 7500 and 5000 each.
