Guwahati: The first phase of Gunotsav-2023 was completed on Saturday. It was held from January 18 to January 21 in 11 districts of Assam namely Barpeta, Karimganj, Karbi Anglong, Kokrajhar, Lakhimpur, Majuli, Nagaon, Sivasagar, South Salmara Mankachar and Udalguri.
A total of 15,08,703 students from classes I to IX of 16,937 schools (Govt./Provincialised schools, Tea Garden Management schools, Adarsha Vidyalaya, Tea Garden Model schools, Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Avasiya Vidyalaya) participated/evaluated in the exercise.
During the evaluation process, IAS, IPS, IPS, ACS, APS, APS and other Grade-I & II officers etc. took an active part as external evaluators. Similarly, ministers, MPs, MLAs, and EMs also took part in various schools as external evaluators and interacted with the students, teachers, parents/guardians, mother groups, community members etc.
The external evaluators evaluated the performance of the students on scholastic in both skill (reading, writing and numeracy/basic mathematical operations) and subject areas as well as other indicators of the schools.
It may be mentioned that the second Phase of Gunotsav-2023 will be held from February 1 to 4, 2023 in 12 districts (Baksa, Chirang, Charaideo, Dhemaji, Dhubri, Golaghat, Hailakandi, Jorhat, Kamrup-Metro, Sonitpur, Tinsukia and West Karbi Anglong) and Hojai (part of Nagaon district).
A total of 15,556 schools (Govt./Provincialised schools, Tea Garden Management schools, Adarsha Vidyalaya, Tea Garden Model schools, Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Avasiya Vidyalaya) and 15,07,867 students from classes I to IX will be covered in the second phase of Gunotsav 2023.
