Guwahati Blast: Police Confirms Use Of Chinese Grenade, Launches Search Ops

Hours after the massive grenade blast in Guwahati’s zoo road on May 15th, 2019, the Guwahati Police has sounded alert and launched a massive search operation in the Panjabari area on May 16th, 2019.

The police have further confirmed the use of Chinese grenade in the May 15th, 2019 blast.

Acting on reliable information, the crime branch under the supervision of Deepak Kumar, Guwahati Commissioner of Police conducted a search operation at a house in Namghar path along the Masjid road, Panjabari and recovered a 9mm pistol from a woman.

The woman has been detained for interrogation.

Meanwhile, a case has been registered in Geetanagar Police station in relation with the incident.

It may be mentioned that chaos and confusion prevailed in Guwahati city after a massive explosion rocked the city in the evening hours of May 15th, 2019. As many as 11 people sustained severe injuries in the blast. Two persons are said to be critical. Injured persons have been rushed to a Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), KGMT Hospital and Nemcare Super Speciality Hospital.
