Guwahati: IndianHigh Commissioner to Bangladesh Vikram Doraiswami met Assam Governor Jagdish Mukhi at Raj Bhavan on Thursday and discussed with him on several issues.
This was the first visit of the High Commissioner after taking over his charge as the High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh.
They discussed about the current status of bilateral relationship and development initiatives including trade, commerce etc.
The High commissioner briefed the Governor about the major projects that are being taken up by India to strengthen the overall bilateral relationship particularly communication, trade, commerce and more people-to-people contacts.
With regard to communication some ongoing projects with special focus on railways, road connectivity, waterways connectivity, access to North East India and projects related to power sector were discussed.
The High Commissioner said that there is a need for greater communication linkages between India and Bangladesh with special emphasis on North East.
Assam Governor also requested to focus on special digital connectivity and bandwith facilities for North Eastern Indian states and link up with the Internet Gateway at Cox Bazar.
