Guwahati: Apprehending that terrorists or anti-social elements may seek hideouts in the residential area under Central Police District, Deputy Commissioner of Police Rajveer Singh has ordered the house owners and landlords to submit the tenants detail to the police.
The order has been issued by Singh due to possibility of breach of peace and disturbance of public tranquility and also there might be likelihood of grave danger to human life and safety and injury of public property.
Therefore, the DC, under section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973, has ordered that, in areas which falls under the jurisdiction of the Central Police District, information regarding tenants should be submitted to the to the OC of concerned police station in whose jurisdiction the premises fall.
The order shall come into force from October 15 and shall remain in force for a period of 60 days unless withdrawn earlier.
As per the notice, any person contravening the order shall be punishable under section 188 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
