Guwahati: A huge cache of arms and ammunition, suspected to be of a militant outfit, was recovered in Assam’s Karbi Anglong district, official said on Thursday.
The arms and ammunition were found buried underground at Langhin in Dokmoka in the district.
As per sources, the police acted on a tip-off that arms and ammunition were hidden in the area. During the search operation police recovered arms and ammunition included an AK-47 rifle, a 9mm pistol, a 0.32mm pistol, a carbine, and two magazines. Moreover, nine magazines of AK series, 88 live rounds, and seven 9mm bullets were found.
However, officials suspect that the arms and ammunition belong to insurgent outfits.
However, no arrests have been made so far in connection with the recoveries.
Further investigation is underway.
