Guwahati: A huge cache of arms and ammunition were recovered on Wednesday from Kokrajhar district in Assam.
Acting on a tip-off, security personnel recovered the arms and ammunition from Lauti area near the Indo-Bhutan border.
The team led by additional superintendent of police Mukut Rabha, recovered 51 live ammunitions of AK-47 series rifles, cache one AK-56 rifle, one AK-47 rifle, three AK magazines and one pistol along with a magazine.
Reportedly, police said that the arms and ammunition were buried under the soil and former Bodo Liberation Tigers (BLT) militants are believed to be involved in it.
Taking to Twitter Assam ADGP GP Singh informed about the recovered arms and ammunition. He wrote: “We continue our endeavour to clean up Bodoland of unauthorised weapons. @KokrajharPolice recovered 2 AK Series Rifles with 51 rounds ammunition and 1 Pistol from Karigaon area of Kokrajhar on January 27th 2021 at 0500 Hrs.”
