Assam government has released a new helpline number for its citizens stranded at different parts of the country and are willing to return back home.
Those who have not sought financial aid from the government but want to return back to Assam may give missed call at 7428159966.
The State government also issued a helpline email ID [email protected] – for those who want to travel with their own vehicle.
The stranded people with their own vehicle can apply on the email ID to avail travel passes.
Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed that 6.28 lakh people have registered on 9615471547 for the Assam Cares Migrant Outreach Programme.
“Those who have registered need not give missed call again for the passes. They will be sent a link in 48 hours, which they can fill-up in their details for the travel,” he said.
The Assam Government is finalizing modalities for bringing back stranded people.
The government has constituted a committee to bring back the stranded people hit by the lockdown in a phased manner.
The committee will formulate SoP for bringing back migrant workers, pilgrims, tourists, students and other persons stranded at different places to the State.
G P Singh, Additional DGP of Law and Order, will head the committee.
The Assam government on May 1st, 2020 welcomed the Centre’s decision to extend the novel coronavirus induced lockdown by two more weeks from May 4th, 2020.
The State government also said that it will review the relaxations notified by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
