Guwahati: Kamrup (M) DC declares 7 Designated Cremation Grounds for COVID deaths :- As the fatalities due to COVID-19 are increasing in the state, the Kamrup (M) district commissioner on Saturday has declared seven designated cremation grounds for smooth disposal of bodies.
The cremation grounds declared as the Designated Cremation Gounds are: Ulubari Electrical Crematorium, Basistha Bhootnath Cremation Ground in Basistha, Bogthuli Cremation Ground in Panjabari, Jalukbari Cremation Ground, Garigaon Kabarsthan, Jalukbari Kabarsthan, and Katahbari Kabarsthan.
Earlier, there were only four designated cremation grounds namely, Ulubari Cremation ground, Bhootnath Cremation ground, Athgaon Kabarsthan, and Islampur kabarsthan.
Meanwhile, the state recorded 50 fatalities due to COVID-1, taking the death toll to 1,628.
The 50 deaths were recorded from: Kamrup Metro (16), Kamrup Rural (6), Dibrugarh (4), Nalbari (4), Barpeta (2), Cachar (2), Dhubri (2), Nagaon (2), Sonitpur (2), Baksa (1), Bongaingaon (1), Darrang (1), Dhemaji (1), Golaghat (1), Kokrajhar (1), Lakhimpur (1), Sivasagar (1), Tinsukia (1), and Udalguri (1).
Assam ahs also recorded 5,756 new COVID cases on Saturday, pushing the active cases tally to 36,799. The positivity rate stands at 8.84%.
