Assam lifts the 8th National Sub-Junior Championship Trophy in Hojai

Guwahati/Hojai, January 14: Assam Hockey clinched the Hockey India 8th National Sub-Junior Championship (MEN) ‘B’ Division trophy outplaying Rajasthan Hockey by 3-2, in the final match played at Hojai Stadium ground on Sunday.

In the first half of the match, Rajasthan Hockey showed superlative performance scored 2 goals, Shivam netted the first goal at 22nd minute and Romit Pal netted the second goal at the 31st minute. Assam Hockey were 0 at first half. In the second half of the match, Assam Hockey coming back showed marvelous performance Manish Sahani netted the first goal for Assam at the 39th minute and then at 57th minute again he netted a goal and at 69th Minute Abdula Khan netted the winning 3rd goal for Assam.

For the third place, the match was played between Hockey Himachal and Hockey Him in the morning where Hockey Himachal defeated Hockey Him by 1-0.

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Speaking on the Occasion, He said,”We are Very grateful to Assam Hockey Association, Hojai Sports Association, Hojai District Administration and the people of Hojai for successful completion of this mega event in Hojai.”

He further said, “Assam Government is Committed to the overall development of Assam, Sports will be our top priority, Assam  has much potential and hidden talents.”

“If any player from Assam wins at any International game, he will be awarded a cash prize of 1 Crore and a government Job,” he added.

Ram Mulvah, IAS Secretary NEC, Sibu Misra,  MLA Lumding Constituency, Shiladitya Dev, MLA Hojai Constituency, Narendra Nimodia, Director, Star Cement, Tapan Das, Secretary, Assam Hockey Association and Manvendra Pratap Singh, DC Hojai District were present on the dais.
