Guwahati: Assam reported 55 fatalities due to COVID-19 on Wednesday taking the death toll to 3,793, while 3,752 fresh cases pushed the infection tally to 4,46,445.
Of the fresh fatalities, seven were reported from Dibrugarh followed by 5 in Sonitpur, 4 each in Dhubri and Kamrup metro, three each from Golaghat, Hojai, Karimganj, Sivasagar and Tinsukia, two from Kokrajhar.
Barpeta, Morigaon, Charaideo, Chirang, Darrang, Dhemaji, Dima Hasao, Goalpara, Hailakandi, Kamrup rural, Morigaon and Uladguri reported one each death in the last 24 hours.
A bulletin from the National Health Mission said that 1,347 more COVID-19 patients have dies till now, but the government’s death Audit Board has not included them in the tally of deaths caused by COVID-19 virus as they has other ailments too.
With the detection of 3,752 cases against the testing of 1,15,806 samples for the disease on Wednesday, Assam has reported a positivity rate of 3.24 percent for the day, NHM stated.
Currently, Assam has 48,499 active cases and they are being treated at different hospitals and Covid Care Centres. Some of them are also in home isolation.
Of the new cases, the highest 430 were detected from the state capital, followed by 366 in Cachar and 222 in Dibrugarh, among others.
During the day, 4,355 recovered from the infection outnumbering the number of fresh cases, the bulletin said.
