    Assam: Lurinjyoti Gogoi accepts public mandate with ‘bow’; vows to support people

    Lurinjyoti Gogoi has lost the Assam Assembly election in both the seats - Duliajan and Naharkatiya, from where he had contested.

    Guwahati: Assam Jatiya Parishad president Lurinjyoti Gogoi, who has forayed in politics from being a student leader with a big promise of forming a regional parties’, has lost the Assam Assembly election in both the seats he had contested.

    He is in third place in both Duliajan and Naharkatiya assembly seats. Accepting his defeat, Gogoi expressed that he accepts the verdict of the public with “bow”.

    Gogoi through a Facebook post said, “At last the result of Assam assembly election 2021 was announced yesterday. Duliajan and Naharkatiya, from which we have filed candidature – voters of both the constituencies rejected us. We have accepted this verdict of the public with our bow. We thank the 24 thousand voters of Duliajan Vidhan Sabha constituency and about 25 thousands voters of Naharkatiya constituency who voted for us in the first step of election. We hope that every newly elected MLA will work for the better future of the nation and Assam. Even if we could not win the support of the majority people, Lurinjyoti Gogoi will always be there for everyone. We will be responsible be responsible for the struggle of establishment of nationalism without compromise by correcting each mistake pointed out at us by the people. We will always and forever be with the people in every crisis in Assam.”

    The AJP president has vowed his and party’s support to the people of Assam in any crisis in the state.

    AJP had fielded 85 candidates for the three-phased Assam Assembly election, but none could win.

    The Assam Jatiya Parisad was formed last year by the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) and the Assam Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parisad (AJYCP), two prominent students’ bodies that had participated in the anti-CAA protests.
