Guwahati: A man was allegedly beaten to death by his own wife and son in Assam’s Udalguri district.
The incident took place in the Hatibondha area on February 18 on the occasion of Shiv Ratri, which came to light on Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Haruram Nath.
According to sources, the body was recovered on Thursday in a nearby pond.
The family member of the deceased said, “Three days after the body was recovered, I queried my aunt and cousin about the event. Though they admitted the crime but didn’t reveal the exact reason to kill him.”
“They killed him with a machete and sticks”, Haruram’s nephew claimed.
A case was lodged against the mother-son duo and the police arrested the wife Purnima Nath and son Mintu Nath on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the body of the deceased was sent for post-mortem.
Further investigation is underway.
