    Assam: Man arrested for allegedly raping a minor in Lanka

    The accused identified as Kaliram Mudoi allegedly raped the minor while she was alone at her home in Lanka, Assam

    Guwahati: A middle-aged man was arrested for allegedly raping a 12-year-old minor girl in Lanka in Assam on Thursday.

    The accused identified as Kaliram Mudoi allegedly raped the minor while she was alone at her home. The gruesome incident occurred four days ago.

    The incident was known to the neighbors of the victim after she started screaming. The neighbors rushed to the spot and rescued her, while the accused was beaten up the nearby residents.

    Mudoi was then handed over to police of Kaki Mudoi village.

    A complaint has been lodged by the victim’s family against Mudoi. And based on the complaint, the police registered a case and arrested him under the provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
