Assam: Man beats his spouse to death in Tinsukia, held

Guwahati: A man killed his wife in Assam’s Tinsukia district, who allegedly got involved in an argument with her, while he was inebriated.

The incident took place in Bishnupur Village under Phillobari police station in the district.

The accused identified as Bhukesh Majhi killed his wife by brutally beating her with bare fists on Wednesday night.

The deceased wife has been identified as Mousumi Majhi.

The sources said that the accused repeatedly battered his wife with bare fists, rendering her unconscious.

Following the incident, the accused then took his wife to Phillobari Model Hospital in an unconscious state but was referred to Tinsukia Civil Hospital, however, doctors declared her dead-on arrival.

Meanwhile, local police immediately arrested the Bhukesh from Tinsukia Civil Hospital where he had arrived with his already deceased wife.

The family members of the deceased have demanded to take stern action against the accused for crime.

Further investigation is underway.
