A twenty-six-year-old man from Nagaon district of Assam was found dead in a lodge room at Okkal near Perumbavoor in Kochi on February 23rd, 2019. The deceased has been identified as Mahibulla Ahmed.

According to Perumbavoor police, the body of Ahmed was recovered in a decomposed state in the lodge room and the lock of the room was locked from outside.  Police suspect that Ahmed was murdered by his roommate Pankaj Mandal, another Assam native. Mandal went absconding following the incident.

A blood-stained iron rod was recovered from near the body of Ahmed. The deceased along with Mandal used to work in a fuel station at Okkal and were staying together.
