Guwahati, January 11: In a major feat for the North East in the Khelo India Youth Games 2019, Assam’s girl Bornali Borah won gold for the Under-21 45 kg category in weight lifting and Manipur’s K Loyangamba Singh clinched gold in the U-17 Greco-Roman 51kg category in wrestling.
Borah has also set the record in the clean and jerk category by lifting 77 kgs, for a total of 132 kg in total weight.
Singh on the other hand, on Wednesday, added another feat to his success by clinching the gold in the U-17 Greco-Roman 51kg category.
It may be mentioned that after winning the U-15 national title in 2018, he went on to win the Asian Championships, 2018.
The Khelo India Youth Games, 2019 held in Pune, Maharashtra started from January 9 and will conclude on January 20, 2019. It is an initiative by the Government of India for the development of sports among youth.
