Guwahati: Assam’s Agriculture and Veterinary Minister Atul Bora’s convoy vehicle met with an accident in Hojai district on Thursday.
The incident took place at NH-54 in the Barbaha region when a convoy vehicle, a Bolero attempted to overtake an Army vehicle but collided with it instead, said sources.
The vehicle’s driver was injured in the collision and is in critical condition, sources added.
Bora and his convoy were on their way to Hojai to assess the flood situation when the incident occurred.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has directed his cabinet ministers to visit flood-ravaged Assam areas and ensure that essentials are delivered to those in need.
Sarma also announced a food relief package for the Dima Hasao district, which has been hit hard by artificial floods over the past days.
