    Assam-Mizoram Border Row: Joint meeting of MLAs of Barak Valley held in Silchar

    11 out of 15 MLAs of three districts of Barak valley were present at the joint meeting

    Guwahati: Amid the prevailing tensions at the Assam-Mizoram border, the Guardian Minister of the Barak Valley, Ashok Singhal on Friday attended a joint meeting of the  MLAs from BJP, INC, AIUDF of Barak Valley at Circuit House, Cachar.

    11 out of 15 MLAs of three districts of Barak valley were present at the joint meeting.

    A resolution was taken by all of them to move court against the SP of Kolasib for the barbaric act that led to the death of 6 Assam Police personnel.

    They also demanded action against Mizoram’s lone  Rajya Sabha MP K Vanlalvena for his unpardonable statement outside parliament, claimed the MLAs.

    Speaking to the media, Minister Ashok Singhal said, “I appreciate their support for our Govt on this issue. we are untied to resolve this crisis. Across party lines, all MLAs have assured of support for any positive step the government of Assam takes, which was seconded by MLA North Karimganj Kamalakhya Dey Purkayastha.”

    Meanwhile, Siddique Ahmed former border minister told the media, “We are with the Chief Minister of Assam and hope that he, for now, stands for a permanent solution to the border disputes with Mizoram.”

    Karim Uddin Barbhuiya, MLA Sonai of AIUDF, said that they should stand hand in hand with the masses to fight this crisis and is pretty sure that the dynamic chief minister would not disappoint the people of the Barak valley region.
