Guwahati: Noted singer Kalpana Patowary joined Asom Gana Parisad (AGP) on Friday.
Kalpana Patowary who has many popular Bhojpuri songs to her credit joined the regional party at a function held at its headquarters situated at Ambari in Guwahati.
Participating in the joining programme party leader Phani Bhusan Choudhury said that the joining of the dinger will boost the power of the party. Her popularity will help the party to move forward and her thought in regionalism will be able to attract the public.
After her joining, Patowary was appointed as the brand ambassador of the party. She urged all the women to join politics for the development of the state.
The joining programme was also attended by Assam food and civil supplies minister Phani Bhusan Choudhury, water recourses minister Keshab Mahanta.
Earlier, the singer also joined Bharatiya Janata Party in 2018 at Patna.
Kalpana Patowary who was born in Assam’s Barpeta and brought up in Guwahati sings in Assamese, Bhojpuri, Hindi, Bengali, English and 25 other languages with around 9,000 songs to her credit.
