Guwahati: One-horned rhino was found dead in a paddy field in Assam’s Golaghat district on Monday night.

The carcass was found lying in a paddy field by locals in the Padumoni area in the district.

As per sources, the rhino strayed out of the Kaziranga National Park and was roaming in different places in the district for the past few days.

Following the incident, some locals immediately informed the police and forest officials.

Meanwhile, a veterinary doctor and a team of forest officials from Kaziranga reached the spot.

However, the forest staff suspected a lack of food availability as the cause of its death.

Five days ago, at least four people including two forest officials were injured after they were attacked by this rhino that entered here.

The locals claimed that the district administration of not taken appropriate measures to send the rhino back to Kaziranga National Park.
