Guwahati: Assam police on Wednesday arrested one Popular Front of India (PFI) member from the Nagarbera area in the Kamrup district.
The arrested PFI member was identified as Abdul Razzaq Ali.
Mirel Ahmed, Officer-in-Charge of Nagarbera police station said that Abdul Razzaq Ali had been absconding for a long time and police caught him from his residence in the Polahartari area.
According to official, on Tuesday night, police team conducted an operation and caught PFI member Abdul Razzaq Ali. He was absconding since September last year.
A few other PFI members are still active in the Nagarbera area and a police operation is on to nab them, official added.
Earlier, on April 24, two cadres of banned radical Islamist organisation Popular Front of India (PFI) have been arrested in Dhubri district.
Both of them had been absconding since September last year, official said. The duo has been identified as Saiful Islam of Dhubri and Shafiqul Islam of Gauripur. Based on a specific information, police launched a secret operation and nabbed both of them.
