Guwahati: More than 50 houses and commercial establishments were reduced to ashes and property worth crores of rupees was destroyed after a devastating fire broke out in Assam’s Tinsukia district on Tuesday afternoon.
The incident took place at Powai bazaar in Digboi.
Several cylinders exploded due to the impact of the fire at the area, sources said. However, there was no report of human casualties.
Meanwhile, properties worth several lakhs have been destroyed in the fire, which turned over 50 houses and shops into ashes, sources stated.
Several fire tenders rushed to the scene and were able to successfully douse the fire. The exact cause of the fire is not known yet.
On Monday night too, several houses were reduced to ashes after a massive fire broke out in the Darrang district. The incident occurred at the Nonke Gorapori area.
