Assam Panchayat Polls | Congress candidates take out massive bike rally for campaigning in Bilasipara

Bilasipara, December 6: Sparing no time to waste, the next day of first phase Panchayat election gets over, political parties has already become busy campaigning for the forthcoming second phase of the Panchayat elections and in Chirakuti village in Bilasipara.

The Congress party took out a massive bike rally to campaign for the elections on Thursday.

Shahida Begum, the Congress candidate for the president seat of the Chirakuti village Panchayat and Anchalik member candidate Shirajul Haque took out a bike rally in the village and appealed the voters to cast their votes for them.

The second phase of the Panchayat Polls will be held on December 9, 2018. The results will be declared on December 12.

“If voted to power, I will make sure that we get concrete roads in our village and I will eradicate the crimes happening against women. PM Narendra Modi’s ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ has failed miserably but I will make sure that the girls of my village are well educated”, said Shahida.

It may be mentioned that the two-phase Panchayat elections would be the first major test for the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as the party is facing stiff opposition from its ally Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) over the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016.

There are 2,200 Gaon panchayats in Assam. Re-polling will take place on December 7 and December 11.
