Guwahati: Amid the general science question paper leak of the Class 10 state board exam, the Assamese paper has also been leaked, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Thursday.
Sarma has advised the Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA) to cancel the exam and reschedule it.
Taking to Twitter, Sarma wrote, “It has been brought to my notice that the arrested accused centre in-charge of Luhit Khabalu HS School has, during interrogation, confessed of leaking Assamese paper as well. In view of this, I have advised SEBA to reschedule Assamese exam also.”
Meanwhile, Education Minister Ranoj Pegu said that all exams for MIL subjects, including English (IL) will be rescheduled.
“SEBA has informed me that as advised by HCM @CMOfficeAssam , the exam of all MIL subjects, including English (IL) of HSLC scheduled for 18 March, will be rescheduled. The new date will be announced tomorrow,” Pegu tweeted.
On Thursday, Assam police arrested a teacher identified as Pranab Dutta, who was officer-in-charge of Luhit Khaboli High School exam centre, in Lakhimpur district for his ‘direct involvement’ in the paper leak case.
As per sources, during interrogation Dutta reportedly confessed to police of leaking the General Science as well as Assamese papers.
Meanwhile, Assam DGP, GP Singh said that at as many as 25 people were arrested and out of them 12 are Children in conflict with the law. The student will be presented in the Juvenile Justice Board, where they can be examined as per the orders, Singh added.
At least three arrested are the headmistress, a teacher, and a grade four employee of a government school in Guwahati.
“We have received 3-day custody of the adult accused and their investigation is in progress”, Singh said.
“CID has examined various Board of Secondary Education Assam (SEBA) officials in the last 3 days and action will be taken against whoever is involved”, DGP added.
