Assam: PM Modi receives book ‘Chandraprabha’; expresses joy
Guwahati: Assamese author Hiranya Borah gifted his book ‘Chandraprabha – The Iron lady of Assam’ to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday, to which the minister expressed his joy.
Taking to Twitter, PM Modi wrote: Was delighted to receive a copy of the book ‘Chandraprabha- The Iron Lady of Assam’ penned by Shri Hiranya Borah. The book chronicles the life of the great Chandraprabha Saikiani, who made noteworthy contributions towards Assam’s progress, social reform, and empowerment of women.”
‘Chandraprabha – The Iron lady of Assam’ is an analytical biography of Padmashri Chandraprabha Saikiani (1901-1972), who was a leading freedom fighter, social reformer, educationist, and a pioneer of women empowerment from Assam.
Penned by Assamese author Hiranya Borah, the book carries the capability and accomplishments of Saikiani as a freedom fighter, a writer, a poet, and a social worker despite her personal struggles throughout her life against many social norms.
Hiranya Borah, in last few years has published more than 182 books along with 10 books in English language. Apart from writing books, Borah is also a motivational speaker for the youngsters.
He wrote books on various genres including inspirational, romantic, humor, horror, suspense thriller, children books, etc.
