Guwahati: After a gap of over seven month, the Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary reopened for visitors on Tuesday.
Assam Forest and Environment minister Parimal Suklabadiya along with minister Pijush Hazarika and ATDC chairperson Jayanta Malla Baruah were present in the opening ceremony of the sanctuary.
To welcome the visitors, the main entrance of the sanctuary has been arranged beautifully, while the Handuk Bridge has been made ready for tourists by applying new paint.
The park authorities also informed that they have arranged for all the COVID-19 safety norms and the entire area has already been sanitised.
Taking to Twitter, Sulabaidya said, “Along with Hon’ble MoS Shri @Pijush_hazarika, Hon’ble ATDC chairman Shri #jayanta_malla today attended the opening ceremony of Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary for tourists for the session 2020-21.”
In another tweet, he wrote: “This sanctuary being close to the hub of NE India, Guwahati is a huge booster of tourism & our Department is putting in all efforts for the overall development of the country.”
The forest department has extended all efforts to give a new look to the sanctuary and as such, many tourists are expected to visit in the coming days.

All resorts and the entire area have been given an attractive look and the resort owners and local people are eagerly waiting for the reopening of the sanctuary.
