Assam police arrest man accused of killing class 12 girl with machete in Karimganj

Guwahati: A person was arrested for allegedly murdering a class 12 girl in Assam’s Karimganj district on Friday.

The incident occurred at Kaliganj Dalfa village in the district.

The deceased has been identified as Monowara Begum (18), a student of the Kaliganj Public Higher Secondary School. Recently, she was promoted to HS in the second year, sources said.

After receiving information about the incident, police immediately rushed to the spot and recovered the body.

The official said the body was lying in front of the accused person’s house, identified as Jabir Ahmed and police had apprehended him.

As per the statement of an eyewitness, we apprehended the accused Jabir Ahmed, official added.

Meanwhile, the body of the deceased has been sent for post-mortem.

The search operation is on to find out the machete used by the accused person. However, the reason behind the crime was not yet ascertained.

The police have registered a case and started the investigation.
