Assam Police badge will be written in Assamese language

Guwahati: The Assam Police in a big modification has decided to inscribe the name on the badge in Assamese language.

This was speculated after Guwahati Commissioner of Police (CP) Harmeet Singh was seen donning a name badge written in Assamese.

Reportedly, Partha Sarthi Mahanta, Joint Commissioner of Police said that it is not a blanket rule for Assam Police and such rules can be implemented only within their jurisdiction which is Kamrup metro.

He further said that he had introduced this rule about four years back in Kamrup district. Since then he had been wearing his name badge in Assamese.
