Guwahati: An Army officer was arrested on Saturday in Assam’s Tezpur for allegedly being involved in a murder case.

The arrested officer has been identified as Lt. Colonel Amrindar Singh Walia, a resident of Punjab.

However, Singh was working as a public relation officer in the Tezpur Army.

According to sources, he was arrested from the 4th Corps Headquarters of the Tezpur Army Battalion.

Earlier, on February 15, the body of a woman was recovered from Kamrup’s Changsari. The body of was dumped near National Highway 31 by the culprits after a murder.

Since then, the Changsari Police had launched search operations to nab those involved behind the murder.

Further investigation is underway.
