Guwahati: In a major breakthrough, Assam Police on Thursday nabbed a serial offender Jahangir Alom from Bhalukdubi in Goalpara district of Assam and raided his residence.
Police recovered huge quantity of drugs and psychotropic substances worth Rs 10 crore in market value from his possession. The drugs were hidden in an underground room.
The accused’s house also had a mini factory where he made Codeine based cough syrups. Police recovered 3 machines for labeling and sealing and 9 drums of raw material (4000 liters) to prepare cough syrup.
Herion, Yaba tablets, Nitrozepam tablets, Spasmo tablets were also recovered along with cash.
Moreover, police seized a JCB, Bolero pickup van, Alto and an electric rickshaw from Alom’s residence.
Further investigation is on to eliminate drugs cartel.
Informing about the development, Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted, “#FightAgainstDrugs.
