GUWAHATI: Assam Police has mounted a charm offensive online. And if the social media buzz is anything to go by, it is wining it hands down. With amazing regularity, it has been putting out tweets and Facebook posts that make serious points with a dash of humour.
And these are being lauded as an effective means of bringing the public closer to the police.
In a recent tweet they used the line of popular ‘ganja dealer’ Kachra Seth from the bollywood movie ‘Phir Hera Pheri’ to inform the netizens about recovered drugs and people behind the bars.
Assam police recovered 3019.32 kg of Ganja and 9.27 heroin in a duration of six months and all the accused arrested were put behind the bars.

Assam police used this famous line from the movie to describe the prison. And also added, “Zor ka jhatka – dhire se, ekdam kadak”.
Assam police’s tweet gets a lot of attention online, leaving many in splits. They have been for a while catching up with their counterparts in other states in sprinkling humour while sending out important messages to the public to ensure their undivided attention.
