Assam Police recruitment: Aspirants allege irregularities, hold protest outside police headquarters in Guwahati

Guwahati: Alleging irregularities in the Assam Police recruitment process, aspirants staged a protest outside the Assam police headquarters in Guwahati on Friday.

This comes after the State Level Police Recruitment Board, Assam in a notification had invited for common written test from the shortlisted candidates who have qualified Physical Standard Test and Physical Efficiency Test (PST & PET) for the recruitment of various posts.

Demanding a reply from the Assam Director General of Police, Bhaskarjyoti Mahanta, the aspirants gave an ultimatum of 24 hours to clarify the matter, else they will seek legal assistance.

Meanwhile, General Secretary, Assam Jatiya Parishad, Jagadish Bhuyan alleged discrepancies in the evaluation of the examination held for the recruitment of Assam Police.

Taking to Twitter, Bhuyan questioned, “Candidates with low marks in Physical Efficiency Test (PET) have been selected for the written test, however, those with higher marks than all the selected candidates have been deprived, what’s the matter?”

Bhuyan also tagged the Assam DGP Bhaskarjyoti Mahanta and Special DGP and Member of State Level Police Recruitment Board Assam L R Bishnoi in his tweet.
