Guwahati: Assam police seized cattle-loaded truck and detained five persons on Tuesday in a cattle smuggling case in Biswanath district.
The Biswanath police set up a routine checking on the highway and intercepted the truck.
During search operation police recovered loaded with 35 cattle heads, official said.
The occupants of the truck were immediately arrested on the scene for animal cruelty and illegal cattle transportation. The truck was heading to Kharupetia from Laluk.
According to the source, the truck had no proper documents to transport cattle and as a result the vehicle was seized.
