The recruitment drive of Assam Police SI landed into a major controversy earlier when the question papers for the recruitment exams were out illegally. Later, a police investigation found the involvement of several top cops in the question paper leak scam.

On Thursday night, the prime accused in the Assam SI recruitment exam scam, Kumud Kalita has been arrested by CID from Sualkuchi. He was absconding for two months and was nabbed by the CID with the help of local police.

It is alleged that Kalita charged huge amounts of money from the candidates in the name of giving jobs. An investigation of the case has revealed the involvement of the arrested accused person as a middleman. At least 24 persons were arrested in connection with the case so far.

Following the incident, Assam Police assured to hold a fair recrutiment drive this time.
