GUWAHATI: In an joint operation by Wildlife Crime Control Bureau Guwahati, Simla Police station, Baksa and Musalpur Forest Division, two elephant tusk was seized and three accused were arrested on Monday.
Among the seized items there were 1 hand-made gun, 6 crackers, 26 ammunitions and 1 Deer antler with skull.
The operation was done in Hapachara and Koraibari village of Baksa district in Assam.
It is mentioned that during the month of August a young elephant was killed at Batabari reserve forest and its tusk was cut off.
WCCB went through the case and tried to gather information about the tusks. As a result yesterday, both the tusks have been recovered and the weapon by which elephant was killed also recovered. But the forensic opinion is still waited.
