Assam Polls: 27.47% voters turnout till 12 pm in the second phase
Guwahati: Assam recorded a voters turnout of around 27.47% till 12:00 pm across 39 constituencies in 13 districts during the second phase of state assembly polls.
Rangia witnessed the highest voter turnout with 35.58% till 12 pm amid EVM malfunctions at some polling booths, while, South Karimganj recorded the lowest voter turnout of 17%.
However, chaos erupted in Lahorighat constituency in Morigaon district among the voters who were standing in a long queue to exercise their franchise.
One of the police officials got injured in the process to control the situation.
Meanwhile, several EVM malfunction in various polling booths were also reported across the state.
E-Rickshaw facilities for 60+ voters were also provided in Cachar especially to those who have difficulty in mobility. They were also being felicitated for their will to cast their vote.
Voting for the second phase of assembly election continues in all the 39 constituencies spread over 13 districts of the Barak valley, three hill districts, and parts of central and lower Assam.
Over 73.44 lakh voters are eligible to cast their votes in the second phase of the elections. Of them, 37,34,537 are male voters and 36,09,959 are female voters, while 135 are third gender voters.
