Guwahati: Assam recorded a voter turnout of around 63.04% till 3:00 pm on Thursday across 39 constituencies in 13 districts during the second phase of the state assembly polls.
The Nalbari constituency witnessed the highest voting percentage with a voter turnout of 71% till 3:00 pm, while, the Kamalpur constituency recorded the lowest voting percentage with a voter turnout of just 43.55%.
Earlier, after casting her vote at a polling station at Silchar, Congress leader Sushmita Dev commented that the Grand Alliance is an inclusive alliance while BJP is a communal alliance.
Voting for the second phase of assembly election continues in all the 39 constituencies spread over 13 districts of the Barak valley, three hill districts, and parts of central and lower Assam.
Over 73.44 lakh voters are eligible to cast their votes in the second phase of the elections. Of them, 37,34,537 are male voters and 36,09,959 are female voters, while 135 are third gender voters.
A total of 345 candidates in 39 constituencies are in the fray. The main contest is seen to be between the alliances led by BJP and Congress.
