GUWAHATI: The regional party of Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) has announced to have a friendly fight with its ally BJP in at least five constituencies in the ensuing state polls. The state polls are slated for March 27, April 1 and April 6.
The announcement came a day after the AGP-BJP-UPPL alliance announced its first list of 70 candidates in New Delhi on Friday. Out of the total 126 seats in the state, BJP has agreed to leave 26 seats for AGP and eight for UPPL.
AGP president Atul Bora after returning to the state from Delhi told media, “In five constituencies namely Lakhimpur, Naharkatia, Patharkandi, Palasbari and Kamalpur, AGP is going to have a friendly fight in the ensuing poll.”
In the last state polls of 2016 too, AGP-BJP had a friendly contest.
AGP was yet to announce its list of candidates for the upcoming poll. Bora informed that the party members would sit for a final discussion before making the announcement.
“We will conduct a meeting tonight and announce the first list by tomorrow,” he added.
