Assam Polls: Around 33.18% turnout till 11 am in third phase
Guwahati: An estimated 33.18% of the total 79, 19,641 eligible voters exercised their franchise till 11 am in 40 constituencies across 12 districts of the state where polling is underway with strict adherence to COVID-19 protocols for phase -III of Assam Polls on Tuesday.
As per Election Commission of India, till 9 am, the voter’s turnout was around 12.83 %.
So far, the voting process is being conducted peacefully which began at 7 am in the morning and will culminate at 6 pm.
A total of 337 candidates are in the fray including 25 women candidates. There are 6 seats reserved for STs and two for SCs. The constituency having the highest number of electors in Phase-III is Dispur with 607 polling booths having 4,11,636 electors.
Heavyweight leaders from various political parties namely Himanta Biswa Sarma, Hagrama Mohilary, Pramila Rani Brahma, Ranjeet Das, Manaranjan Brahma, Siddhartha Bhattacharya among others cast their votes from respective polling centres in the morning hours.
