    Guwahati: The Congress party on Saturday has firmly marked their dissent against the BJP’s blatant deterioration of the respect for Public Mandate. The party also protested against alleged EVM manipulation by the BJP Governemnt.

    Leaders like Jitendra Singh, Ripun Bora, Pradyut Bordoloi, Sushmita Dev, Bobbeeta Sharma staged a protest at Dispur against BJP’s electoral manipulation.

    Earlier on Thursday, after the second phase of polls concluded, a polled EVM was found to be carried in a private vehicle of a BJP candidate.

    The party has also called upon the Election Commission, authorities to intervene and aid the populace to safeguard their Constitutional Rights and Ballot Privileges.

    In a statement, the party said, “The Party urges the Election Commission to remain a neutral entity and uphold the sanctity of Political Representation in a Democracy, while implementing legal recourse for this glaring misuse of Power by the Ruling Regime, in Assam and not remain a mute spectator to such important issues. The Party and the people are convinced that the BJP is rattled, which is why it is resorting to treachery to win the Elections.”

    “The Congress Party, is certain that the Protest of the people will bear fruit in the State, in terms of showing the tyrannical Saffron Government, the door, on the 2nd of May 2021,” it further stated.
