    Assam Polls: Holi Festivities Grip Poll Campaigns; Politicians Celebrate With Public

    The Kamrup (metro) district administration has declared Monday as a public holiday on account of the Holi festival

    GUWAHATI:  Holi fever gripped election campaigning in the state with political heavyweights from major parties making the festivities a grand opportunity to woo the voters. While chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal was seen participating in the city’s grand Holi celebration of Fancy bazaar, Congress leaders too did not shy away and found to be enjoying the festivities amongst the public.

    On Monday morning, Sonowal along with BJP candidate for Gauhati East constituency Siddhartha Bhattacharya reached the Holi celebration held at Fancy bazaar. “Celebrated Holi, the festival of colours, by meeting people and exchanging greetings in Guwahati. May the festival bring joy, prosperity and peace to everyone’s life”: tweeted Sonowal.

    In Nagaon, senior Assam Congress leader and Lok Sabha MP Pradyut Bordoloi too celebrated the festivities amongst commoners.

    He tweeted: “Wishing you all fresh new beginnings and prosperity on the auspicious occasion of Holi. As the stage is set for people in Assam to embrace #Congressor5Guarantee, may the future be full of opportunities and welfare for all.”

    Adding to him, Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi tweeted: “This #Holi is going to be extra special & colourful for Assam, as it gears up to welcome a new future full of prosperity with #Congressor5Guarantee! Wishing you all happy, healthy & joyous times ahead!”

    Assam Congress leader Bobbeeta Sharma tweeted, “Let us all find time to appreciate and enjoy the colors that life has to offer. Happy Holi to all!!”

    Earlier, the Kamrup (metro) district administration has declared Monday as a public holiday on account of the Holi festival.
