    Assam Polls: Priyanka Gandhi launches state-wide protest against rising unemployment in Assam

    BJP ruled government has betrayed the people of Assam: Priyanka Gandhi Vadra

    Guwahati: On the first day of her visit to poll-bound Assam on Monday, Congress Party General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra launched a state-wide protest, marking the party’s disapproval against rampant unemployment in the state.

    Before proceeding to the protest, Vadra took blessings at Kamakhya Temple on behalf of the Congress party.

    Speaking to the media, Vadra confidently claimed to re-conquer Assam in the upcoming state election ousting the ruling BJP government from power.

    “The BJP ruled government has betrayed the people of Assam and did not fulfill the promises it made before coming to power. People of Assam will answer them and the grand alliance will form the next state government here,” said Vadra.

    The protests took place as a state-wide agitation, across all districts.

    State NSUI Leaders, The Assam pradesh youth congress, APCSD young brigade, minority department, APCC, intimated their district units to actively participate in the protest and mark their dissent against the lack of being able to access a basic livelihood through employment opportunities.

    The Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also participated in a traditional ‘Jhumur’ dance with young teens of the tea tribes of Assam’s Lakhimpur, a video was shared by the party on Twitter.

    Vadra was joined at the protest in Lakhimpur by various senior leaders of the Congress party- General Secretary AICC Jitendra Singh, Secretary AICC Bhupen Borah, Secretary AICC Rana Goswami ,MP (RS) and President APCC Ripun Bora, MP (LS) and Manifesto Committee Chairman APCC Gaurav Gogoi, Publicity Committee Chairman APCC Rakibul Hussain, MP (LS) and Chairman of the Congress Campaign Committee Pradyut Bordoloi, Congress Legislature Party Leader Debabrata Saikia, Outreach Committee Chairman and President All India Mahila Congress Sushmita Dev, Paban Singh Ghatowar Former Union Minister, MP (RS) Ranee Narah and Joint Secretary PCC Chhattisgarh Vikas Upadhyay.
