    Assam Polls: Sand Art Installed For Voter Awareness

    The 800 sq ft sized sand art was opened for public on Monday afternoon

    GUWAHATI: The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Assam took another innovative way under Systematic Voters’ education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) activities in the form of ‘sand art at Rajaduwar Ghat here to generate electoral awareness among voters.

    After several hours long starting on Sunday midnight, five artists namely Pavan Das, Subhash Medhi, Jayanta Hazarika, Bidyut Nath and Himangshu Sarma created a large-sized sand art (40ft x 20ft) completed the artwork near Brahmaputra bank on Monday evening.  

    Marking the Holi celebration, the artwork displayed the beauty of colours of the Holi festival and the creative initiative was an attempt to celebrate the colours of our democratic rights.

    “The artwork depicted a man, a woman and a voter’s finger which symbolizes voter participation from all sections of the society and is a humble attempt to make voter aware of the importance of voting rights and make them participate in the ongoing festival of democracy,” said chief electoral officer (CEO) Assam.

    The 800 sq ft sized sand art was opened for public on Monday afternoon.
