    Assam Polls: SLPRB suspends PST/PET drives in state with immediate effect

    New dates for holding PST/PET drives to be announced after receipt of approval from ECI

    Guwahati: The State Level Police Recruitment Board (SLPRB) has decided that PST/PET drives for the post of Constable (AB/UB) in 12 districts of Assam will remain suspended due to the forthcoming elections in the state.

    As per a notification, PST/PET drives in the 12 districts namely Hojai, Hailakandi, Karbi Anglong, Majuli, Chirang, Morigaon, Biswanath, Darrang, Kamrup (M), Udalguri, Dhemaji and Sonitpur will be suspended until further orders from Election Commission of India.

    Also, the PST/PET drives which started afresh in 15 other districts in the state shall be kept on hold until the Election Commission of India approves the same.

    In another notification, PST/PET drives in Sivasagar, Karimganj and Jorhat have also been suspended until further orders.

    New dates for holding PST/PET drives shall be announced after receipt of approval from Election Commission of India.

    Major reshuffle in Assam police department

    The Election Commission of India has reshuffled many of the top officials of the Assam Police. Earlier, on the day of the announcement of the elections, the state government had changed many top police officials.

    In a letter to the principal secretary, home and political department ECI had directed all the officers to join their new place of posting within 10 am of March 3, 2021.
