India will celebrate its 72nd Republic Day on Tuesday this year and amid the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, several things will be changed. However, preparations are in full swing for the Republic Day celebrations in Guwahati.
Security has been beefed up in the city and the state will celebrate the Republic Day at the Veterinary field in Khanapara .
A total of 12 platoons from Assam Police, Veerangana, NCC Cadets and from different parmilitary forces have been rehearsing in the field to participate in the parade.
Assam Governor Professor jagadish Mukhi will inaugurate the host of programmes by hoisting the flag.
72nd Republic Day Special arrangements have been made at the venue of the Republic Day celebrations in view of the COVID-19 pandemic. COVID-19 tests have been made mandatory for all the march-past groups taking part.
Security forces have been keeping vigil in several areas of the city. CCTV cameras have also been installed in the field to prevent untoward incident.
